Elections: INEC announces likely date to introduce electronic voting in Nigeria

Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that electronic voting might be introduced in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra state.

The INEC Chairman made this known during a budget defence session with the House of Reps Committee on INEC.

Yakubu further stated that they are looking at better ways to conduct free and fair elections in the country.

Recall that the electoral body had announced that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence in the first quarter of 2021 ahead of the 2023 general election.
INEC also earmarked the sum of N1billion for the exercise.
