Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State is a prestigious university in which a lot of secondary school students from diverse parts of the country are aspiring to be admitted. OAU is known for its vast land and vast varieties in department et faculties. But there are some departments that tend to have larger aspirants who are admitted to turn out to be a massive class in one level.

Note that, Obafemi Awolowo University is no doubt one of the largest and most populated universities in Nigeria.
This is also made obvious by the vast number of aspirants who pick OAU as their first choice when writing UTME exams. Hence, the high cut-off mark in a bid to control the population.
OAU has 10 faculties and two colleges — The Postgraduate College and the College of Health Sciences.
The university also consists of over 60 departments.
The university offers undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in fields of specialization spanning the humanities, arts, natural sciences, social sciences, medical sciences, engineering and technology.
Every department in OAU is hard in its way and is popularly known for at least one thing. First-class, carryovers, shanas and so on. Another major attribute is the population.
There are some departments which are known for their large population. This crowd can be caused by different factors. It can be due to the course being seen as hot-cake or it being the “dumping ground” for students who failed to gain admission into their preferred courses.
In no particular order, The Departments in OAU known for their large sizes include:
1. English: This department is in the Faculty of Arts, located in the Humanities Block, behind the senate building. Getting to know that English department is very populated is not a news to any or most of OAU student (s) because such is the case for a long time now.

<strong>Microbiology: </strong>This department is in the <strong>Faculty of Sciences, located around Biological Science building, beside the Senate Building</strong>. This is one of the departments that is populous in terms of number of students. -
<strong>Accounting: </strong>This department is in the <strong>Faculty of Administration, located close to Amphitheatre. </strong>You must have heard about how much <strong>MAC (management and accounting)</strong> students are. Yeah! It's true. It's one of the most populated departments in OAU -
<strong>Law: </strong>This department is in the <strong>Faculty of Law, located between faculty of administration and faculty of social sciences.</strong> The Black and White geng (Lol)... You move about on campus sometimes and you wonder, who are these much students putting on B&W everywhere? they are students of Law -
<strong>Arts and Social Sciences Education</strong> <strong>(ASE): </strong>This is a department from the <strong>faculty of Education, located between humanities block and faculty of law</strong>. It is a populated department in the faculty with so many students under its wing.
Seeing the large number, it wouldn’t be uncommon to think it makes the department easy to enter and pass in. Every true OAU student shouldn’t make this mistake though. Every department in OAU no matter how large is as tough as the next one in ways.
