On Saturday, the 8th day of January 2022, Obafemi Awolowo university freshmen begun resumption into their various halls of residence. As expected, freshmen will bring everything fresh and new. Someone took it as duty to steal from the innocent students that will just be introduced into the new environment.
In the statement release from the Great Ife Students’ Union announced by the PRO elect, Ogunperi Taofeek popularly known as, TAO, the thief was caught, paraded and handed over to security officers.

THIEF CAUGHT IN ANGOLA AND PARADED
In the early hours of today, Monday, 10 January 2022, a thief was caught in Angola Hall. A man who identified as “Yemi” and confessed to be a perpetual thief had snuck into Awolowo and Angola Halls with the sole aim of perpetuating his habitual but heinous act of stealing.
At 2am, the Hall Chairperson-elect of Angola, Comrade S & T, had challenged the thief. He claimed to be a student coming from a prayer session. He was soon caught stealing phones and clothes. The Union officers, ably led by the President-elect of the Union, Olayiwola Folahan Festus (Reform), paraded him to serve as deterrence to other elements like him. Subsequently, he was handed over to the Security Unit Office of the University.
This issue is coming hours after the Students’ Union, led by the President-elect, conducted a sensitisation exercise in Halls for the fresh students where they were charged, amongst others, to be security conscious.
The Union uses this medium to reassure Union members of the readiness and availability of the elected Union officers across all arms to work towards optimum welfarism of the students. The Union is available for intervention and cases can be reported via:

In conclusion, the Union charges both fresh and returning students to maintain collectivism in ensuring that our campus does not turn into a den of thieves and other unwanted elements. The welfare and safety of every student is bound up in the vigilance and consciousness of all of us.
