Update On ASUU: Indefinite Strike Action Imminent After Warning Strike

Tomorrow makes it the eighth week since the commencement of the warning strike action embarked on by ASUU which was later joined by Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Allied Institutions, NASU.

Ever since, all the efforts of the students to bring the Federal Government to settle with ASUU to end the strike action has been futile. Several students from several universities have engaged in both online and offline protests but none seems to be getting to them.

Last weekend, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, had met with the leadership of SSANU, NAAT, NASU and had announced to meet with ASUU but even that invitation hasn’t been extended to ASUU according to the National President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.

The warning strike ends tomorrow and there are considerations on embarking on the planned indefinite strike action without delay.
