1. Prof. Bamire Adebayo Simeon is a native of Oyan in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria and was born in 1959.

2. He started his primary education at Datus Nursery/Primary Preparatory School, Accra, Ghana and completed it at St. Clares’ Nursery and Primary School, Osogbo. He attended St. Charles’ Grammar School, Osogbo, from 1972 to 1976.

3. Professor Bamire was a student of the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife), where he studied Agricultural Economics and was presented a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric.) degree in 1985. He also attained his M.Phil. and PhD degrees from the university in 1992 and 1999, respectively. His PhD programme captivated sponsorship from the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) in 1997 and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in 1998. His PhD thesis earned him the “National Universities Postgraduate Theses Award” in 2001.

4. Prof. Bamire joined the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife as an Assistant Lecturer in 1992 and became a Professor in 2008. He has taught courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and successfully handled undergraduate proposals and postgraduate theses in the masters and PhD categories within and outside Nigeria. He has also evaluated colleagues for advancement to the Professorial cadre and performed as an External Examiner in both undergraduate and postgraduate categories within and outside of the country.

5. He has over 100 research-based journals on respectable local and international platforms, including contributions to books, scientific publications, refereed conference proceedings, technical reports, and monographs, and delivered the University’s 315th Inaugural Lecture.

6. Professor Bamire has been exposed to enthusiastic leadership and managerial movement over the years in the course of his academic profession at the university. He was a Visiting Scientist at IITA, Ibadan, in 2004; Vice-Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University (2007-2009); Head, Department of Agricultural Economics (2011-2012) and Dean, Faculty of Agriculture (2013-2015). In his capability as a Dean, he ventured on and finalized laudable developmental projects in the faculty through contributions from his social capital network, Alumni, and friends of the faculty.

7. Professor Bamire has been revealed to research training openings early in his profession through numerous training workshops organized by CODESRIA, IITA, AERC, and OAU. The knowledge attained made it effortless for him to supervise colleagues and students in writing achieving research programs and organising significant networks nationally and internationally.

8. He led a baseline survey supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), USA. This was made feasible through his long-time association with scientists at IITA; ILRI/DfID; HarvestPlus/IFPRI (Washington, DC., USA); International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Mexico; Makerere University (Uganda); United Nations University Institute of Natural Resources (UNU-INRA), Accra, Ghana; United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), Helsinki, Finland; African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) etc

9. Prof.Bamire has attended several national and international conventions and workshops associated with biodiversity and endurable agricultural expansion and has partaken in collective surveys involving experimenters from different professions on sustainable agricultural production.

10. Prof. Bamire is a member of international organisations such as CODESRIA, IITA, Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD), and an Associate Senior Research Fellow of the International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED)
Technically, he is a member of prestigious organisations.

12. Prof. Bamire is computer literate with an outstanding understanding of the application of statistical and econometric methods. He has taken part in and still participates as Principal Investigator in different on-farm explorations and as Resource Person in training programmes that have contributed to long-term dealing with farmers and non-farmers in their societies and business interests.

13. Prof. Bamire has been confirmed to be always diligent, devoted, disciplined, intelligent, credible, and has a good team spirit. Above all, he is God-fearing. He has good inspiration and knowledge of the best business strategies that could contribute greatly to system development, having attended several meetings and helped tremendously in facilitating academic and research programmes in his department, faculty, and the university.

15. He is happily married to Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Bosede Bamire and together are adored with children.
