5 Interesting Facts You Don’t Know About 2Face Idibia

2face has made waves this past decade and his hard work and creativity can never be forgotten in the music industry. Some other musicians might be praised these days but we cannot forget the hard work of some musicians who made our childhood interesting too. 2face is one of the creative and biggest musicians in the music industry who has dished out good music.

2Baba is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, stage performer recording artist, actor, entrepreneur and television personality. He is known worldwide as the King of Afro Pop. Till now, he is the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) and even got the King of Gbedu brand ambassadorship from Oraimo. He has not only shone in the past but he is still great and praise-worthy. 

    The music industry is an interesting field and each year, new talents are recognized. Although many talents have been discovered such as Fireboy, Rema, Joeboy, Ruger, Asake, and more, people like 2Face can never be forgotten. How well do you know 2face Idibia? 1. 2face has a diploma in Business Administration

 2face was born on 18th September 1975 in Jos, Plateau State in the northern part of Nigeria. He is from Idoma, a small town in Benue State in the south southern part of Nigeria. 2Face Idibia attended Saint Gabriela’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. What many people do not know is that 2face is a Business Administrator as he obtained a diploma in Business Administration from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu. However, he dropped out of school to focus on his music career and used 2baba as his official stage name.

On March 20, 2019, 2Face was honoured with the award of Fellow of the School of Music, by the Obafemi Awolowo University Department of Music.

2. His first album was “Body and Soul”

  The first band 2baba created when he started his music career was Plantashuun Boiz  alongside rapper Blackface and singer Faze. They released their first album ‘Body and Soul’ in 2000. Plantashuun Boiz succeeded at blowing minds with their creativeness and talent. However, in 2004, they disbanded and 2face went ahead to release his first debut album ‘Face 2 Face’ in 2004. This was a success. The talented musician did not stop but kept making waves. He proceeded to release his second studio album “Grass 2 Grace” in 2006 with a hit single like “African Queen” and “True Love” During this, he was in the Kennis Music Records which he later left to set up his record label named ‘Hypertek Entertainment’.

3. 2Face has won several awards

  Just as 2Baba had said online, his single, African Queen changed his life. It made him win several awards in Nigeria and abroad. He was presented with the prestigious International Youth Ambassador for Peace Award at the Nigeria Youth Merit Award in 2009. 2Face has won several Grammy awards too including Grammy awards World’s Best Entertainer of the Year at MTV Africa Music Award, World’s Best Artist of the Year at Headies Awards, Most Gifted Artiste at Channel O Music Video Awards, Best R&B Artiste of the Year at Nigeria Music Video Awards and Best Male Artiste of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards.

4. He has an NGO and is into humanitarian service.

 2Baba has a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) called 2Face Idibia Reach-Out Foundation whose motto is service to humanity. He is a man interested in humanitarian services, serving people and giving them a reason to be happy. He was made an ambassador by the Nigerian National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. After this, he released a song named Man Unkind to comment on poor food and drug standards in Nigeria. 2Face was involved in a prostate cancer prevention campaign after losing his father to prostate cancer. He was once in partnership with CECP-Nigeria (Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy) to increase awareness by promoting holistic health in rural communities. The National Youth Council of Nigeria was also awarded Idibia for Peace and the Nigeria Youth Merit Award.

5. 2Face has seven children from three wives 

    2Baba has 7 children from 3 women. The women are Sumbo Ajaba, Pero Adeniyi and Annie Macaulay. However, 2face is married to his childhood sweetheart, Annie Macaulay who is a Nollywood actress. They had their traditional wedding in asker, Akwa Ibom in 2013 and a red carpet reception in Dubai. He has stated that Annie stood by him when he was a nobody and is his best friend. Although they had a series of breakups over infidelity they reunited. Annie made a recent outburst online which stirred reactions from people. This was as a result of 2Face still being with his baby mama, Pero. She claimed that the musician met her first yet her daughter is his fifth’s child as he dated other women. 

And today, 2Face has trended on Twitter after making comments on how his music, “African Queen” has changed his life. This is just after he commented on everyone trying to blame Buhari for the failures in the country. This is as regards the senators’ threat on impeaching Buhari.
