The much anticipated, Black Panther 2 is finally out and we are all curious as to whether the old cast members of the first movie will be present here and if new cast members will be introduced. The success of the first movie made it impossible to not make a second one. Even though we lost Chadwick Boseman who will forever live on in our hearts, we are still curious as to how exciting the movie will be with the other cast. Here is a list of some of the cast members in Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever;
1. Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black panther
She plays the role of Shuri, the princess of Wakanda and T’challa’s smart sister. Letitia was given a larger role in Black Panther 2 after the death of T’challa, her brother and king. She focused more on her technology and inventions as a way to cope with the death of her brother and the new responsibilities bestowed on her. Letitia is an amazing actress who plays all her roles exceptionally well. She had her first leading role in a movie when she was cast in Urban Hymn in 2015 by Micheal Caton-Jones.
2. Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia
The Oscar-winning actress who made her movie debut in 12 years a slave(2013) played the role of a Wakanda warrior in this movie. Nakia was also the love interest of T’challa and gave birth to his son who she raised in another world. You might have to the movie to understand her role and some of the decisions she made. Lupita claims she became much more mature and sharpened in her role as Nakia after the death of T’challa. She has also appeared in other movies and has never disappointed us with how well she depicts her roles.
3. Danai Gurira as Okoye
Okoye is the general of Wakanda’s all-female special forces, the Dora Milaje and is also one of the best martial artists in Wakanda. Her great leadership helped protect Wakanda against all conflicts. She is stripped of her general title after she lost Shuri but she’s still an important part of the movie.
4. Winston Duke as M’baku
Winston Duke plays the role of M’baku, the leader of Wakanda’s mountain tribe, the Jabari. He was set up for bigger roles in the movie since he had the chance to challenge Shuri for the position of the Black Panther. He served as a great support to Shuri after Queen Ramonda’s death and helped in the battle with Namor.
5. Florence Kasumba as Ayo
She’s a member and also the second in command of the Dora Milaje, the all-female special forces. She is romantically involved with Aneka, a fellow member of the forces and later becomes the general. She’s the latest LGBTQ heroine in the MCU series.
6. Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart
Her role in the movie set the stage for her to continue her Ironheart series on Disney which is said to be the sequel to her first MCU movie. She’s an MIT student who builds an Ironheart armour and also makes a vibranium-detecting technology that causes Namor and his people into battle with Wakanda. She was taken to Wakanda because the suit she made had to remain within Wakanda’s borders.
7. Michaela Coel as Aneka
A Wakanda warrior and also a member of the Dora Milaje who is romantically involved with Ayo. Her role as Aneka can be described as ‘kind of a rebel’. She uses a blue shiny blade developed for her by Shuri to fight and it gives her a unique fighting style.
8. Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda
Angela plays the role of the queen mother of Wakanda and also a mother grieving the death of her son. She had to retake the role of the Queen after the death of her son, King T’challa in other to protect Wakanda and ensure their place in the world. She died giving her life to save another during the Wakanda battle. She portrays her role as a mother and a leader perfectly.
9. Tenoch Huerta as Namor
Tenoch Huerta who is a Mexican actor plays the role of Namor, Wakanda’s enemy. He is the leader of Talocan, an underwater nation. This movie is his MCU debut. He later makes peace with Wakanda in other to protect his nation from being exposed. He referred to himself as MCU’s newest mutant.
10. Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross
Martin Freeman makes his third appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by playing the role of a CIA agent in Black Panther 2. He knew about Wakanda and also helped them. He found Shuri’s bead on a bridge where Wakanda and Talokanil battled it out and helped Okoye track down the lost princess. This act put him in trouble with the CIA and he was arrested. Okoye comes to save him from imprisonment and takes him to Wakanda as a way to repay the debt.
11. Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaines
She plays the role of the director of the CIA who wanted to know everything about Wakanda because she thought their inventions and technology will be good for the U.S. She’s also the ex-wife of Everett Ross. She arrested her ex-husband because he gave back Shuri’s bead and refused to give any information about it.
12. Trevor Noah
The TV host, Trevor Noah plays a small but important role as the voice of Shuri’s artificial intelligence, Griot. He had a big impact in the movie when he helped Shuri with one of her inventions when T’challa was still alive and when she also became the Black Panther.
13. Mabel Cadena as Namora
She’s one of the leaders of Namor’s army and engages in battle with Okoye and Shuri in Boston in other to take Riri Williams hostage to get the country. Namora is a pure Talokanil who uses a breathing apparatus filled with water when she’s on the surface and is still a skilled fighter regardless.
14. Dorothy Steel
The 95-year-old played the role of the Merchant tribe leader in the Wakandan council. Dorothy Steel started her acting career at the age of 88 and has featured in several high-profile movies even though they were minor roles. Black Panther 2 was the last movie she worked on before she died on October 15, 2021. She was said to have filmed her part in Black Panther 2 before her death.
15. Divine Love Konadu-Sun as Toussant/T’challa
The role given to Divine Konadu-Sun was a way to honour Chadwick Boseman and have someone continue his legacy as the king and Black Panther. He’s the son of T’challa and Nakia who was raised somewhere else for six years because his mother, Nakia wanted him to grow up without the pressure of Wakanda.
16. Connie Chiume as Zawavaki
She also plays her role as part of the Wakandan council as the mining tribe elder. She only had a couple of lines in her one scene in the movie during the meeting at the palace where she offered her guidance to Queen Ramonda and the royal family about Namor’s attack.
17. Alex Livinalli as Attuma
He mostly remained as a background player but he offered his full support to Namor, using his strength as a virtual battering ram.
18. Danny Sapani as the Border tribe leader
He joins the council with Ramonda, Steel, and De Bankole to stop Namor’s attack. He was the only border tribe leader in the movie. Danny Sapani is a British-American actor who has been featured in several notable movies.
