5 Ways To Go Against The Clock

Share

Going against the clock simply means achieving something before its stipulated time or event. It’s always hard to find your way around meeting up with time-deadlines for some things, it could even lead one to depression – when you’re not meeting up with time, causing you to be stressed, and later unproductive. I’m sure we’ve all had our share of experience trying to meet up with the time constraint of a particularly important event or whatever! Stay with me to see ‘tested and trusted’ ways and approaches that can help you be a pro in time management. The last one is a shocker

1. Planning/Scheduling

Planning is the first, best, and most proven of all time management techniques. It helps you properly organize your work and gives you a detailed insight into all that you need to do. If you can plan your daily, weekly, or monthly tasks, the rest comes easily. You can schedule your activities beforehand, and you can also set a time limit for each of these tasks. For example, I can plan for a study I’m supposed to make that is necessary for my project ahead of D-day and set a time frame for it, say 1hr plan. You can use a calendar, task/project manager, time tracker, note-taking app (with templates), habit tracking, distraction prevention tools, and others to plan/schedule your activities and events.

(N/B: this isn’t the same old cliché on how to manage time, read on…)

2 Priority

What’s most important that needs to be done now, later, or tomorrow – you can arrange your priorities like that, trust me it’ll help you block distractions (could be anything – your phone, data, friends, or even that your boo sef! **You’ll finish your project on time by God’s grace aunty Jane**). It will also help you learn to say NO and manage time-wasters ( **those PS 5 you’ve never won a single game, or that bet sef, save your last cash bruh! **)

3 Reminders

This is close but slightly different from Planning/Scheduling. Reminders are ‘day planners’ made to remind you of your scheduled/planned events. When you make a plan for soso event or whatever, you put a reminder in place to ‘tilt you to it’. I personally have a love relationship with reminders, oh my! They can just pop any moment, any where, or any damn time! ( **don’t worry your babe won’t break up with you cos of a mere reminder, use that iPhone to good use. Salewa you can use your Nokia torchlight too abeg, reminder doesn’t select phone and na same time e go still show up for everyone **).

4 Stop Procrastinating

I don’t think I even need to do much explanation on this – if you want to beat time in all you do, don’t have anything to do with procrastination (**don’t hit on her, or even flirt with her, I mean, we all know how great of a seductress that whore is!**). One big way to rule over procrastination is to fully understand your motivation(s); truth is an energized man may still procrastinate once tempted to, but a ‘motivated’ man will never procrastinate even though he is as tired as ever, mehn! For example, no matter how tired you are, when you think of the extra points/mark that bonus assignment will fetch you, you won’t procrastinate and still want to turn it in as early as possible ( **awon set best graduating student**). So try to find out and understand what can motivate you  concerning that task or event and stay motivated!

5 Get enough down time and rest

E shock you! Yes, you need a sound mind and body at all time if you want to always beat time and be a Pro at it. You can’t plan or do any event if you’re not mentally or physically stable, I mean, can you beat time on an empty stomach? That in itself is a distraction! So, dear sir and ma who’d like to work against time and be an ace in time management, “take care of your self – your spirit, soul, and body”, its only when it’s well with you that you can ‘move well’. We @Trybe loves you and want to see you doing really well. Trust me not to forget the last word “elemi loma last” (Na who get life go last)
