The Faculty of Science is as old as the University. At present, eight academic departments run 12 programmes. The Faculty also runs a Biological Gardens Unit, as well as an Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies through the Department of Zoology. There is also an Afforestation project which is run by Botany Department. All departments including the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies run postgraduate programmes and a few departments award postgraduate degrees in more than one area of specialization
