Have you been seeing the beautiful changes around? Intricate renovations have been going on at our great school and we can’t help but marvel at the beauty of these buildings. Dr Akintoye Akindele, a Chemical Engineering graduate of OAU, has been one of the key people assisting the university in the areas of renovation.

He is also an entrepreneur, investor, chairman of Platform Capital, chairman/CEO Atlantic and Support midstream, best selling author, Oil and Gas Exponent. Together with his wife, who is also an alumna, renovated and provided a new set of furniture for lecture theatre A, B and C of Chemical Engineering department amongst others.

Akintoye Akindele has a great passion for entrepreneurship and he is passionate about the growth of entrepreneurs in Africa. His promises during the visit of the Vice-chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede were all about supporting universities, their faculties and students through various Initiatives. He plans to provide OAU with solar energy which can cover a hectare of land, accommodate about 500 engineering students as interns in Duport and Edo State, give a chance for five Computer Sciences and Engineering students to intern physically and remotely with Asperity within or outside Nigeria and send a robot to the school.

As Obafemi Awolowo made an unforgettable impact on his life, he is determined and inspired to give back to the school community. This made the VC praise the alumni for their love and willingness to give back to their alma mater and he added that the university would like to partner with Platform Capital on its Centre of Excellence programme in Software Engineering to speed up the project.
Not to forget that Dr Akintoye was one of the 60 alumni awarded at the 60th anniversary of the school. He is indeed worthy of emulation.
