The Senate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is set to hold an Emergency meeting tomorrow, Friday the 29th of October, 2021.
This was announced today in a Communiqué signed for the Registrar by M.S. Oluwajoba, addressing Members of the School Senate.
The focus of the meeting as stated in the Communiqué is the current situation on the OAU Campus.

The Communiqué reads;
“Notice is hereby given for an Emergency meeting of Senate scheduled for 10.00am on Friday, 29th October, 2021 at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Agendum:
1. Situation on Campus
“Please keep the date open and attend the meeting punctually.
“Members are requested to kindly come along with their Nose Masks to the meeting.

This brings hope to the OAU Community as the school has been shutdown in the midst of its Rain Semester’s Examination since October the 2nd, 2021.
The school was shutdown following demonstrations made by its Students to decry the negligence of Health Workers at the School’s Health Center, leading to the eventual death of a colleague.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Protesters blocked all Federal Roads leading to Ife, and extorted monies from Road Users. The Protest, he said, was susceptible to hijack by Hoodlums. Hence, the School had to be shutdown to restore peace to the Ife Community.
Hopefully, the Senate would reach a meaningful conclusion regarding a resumption date for students in the meeting slated for tomorrow, and normalcy restored to the Campus.
