Resumption Date extended by one-week as INEC postpones gubernatorial election Due to “BVAS wahala”

As predicted by most students, It’s going to be a very long ride. Every Nigerian student has been anticipating the gubernatorial election, not necessarily out of patriotism, but because they want the entire “Election Palava” to be over so that they can resume their studies. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to surprise them with “hold on“, and all we can pray for is that “Pick 2” shouldn’t follow.

We could recall that the  National Universities Commission (NUC) directed stating that all Universities should be closed from (February 22nd – March 14th) due to the upcoming general election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled the governorship and state assembly elections from their original date of March 11 to March 18, 2023. This decision was made due to the commission’s inability to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines in time for the state elections, which were previously used in the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections. A top INEC official confirmed the postponement to PUNCH NG correspondent in Abuja today.

We understand that you may have questions such as whether the postponement will affect the NUC’s scheduled resumption date. The answer is yes, it will, as the break was given to allow students and staff to exercise their civil rights. While the one-week extension may not seem significant, we can only hope that there are no further delays beyond this.

more details to come.
