Many students will be filled with mixed emotions as resumption draws near and perhaps a little bit of sadness as another round of the hectic academic session is about to begin. The academic session begins with the registration of courses online, which started on January 31, 2023, with the activation of the school portal, thereby granting students access to register for their respective courses.
According to the school calendar, students are expected to resume in their halls of residence by February 5, 2023, and academic lectures are to kick off the same day. The academic session is expected to span 22 weeks.
This semester has many exciting events, including the upcoming national presidential election on February 25, 2023. Students are encouraged to exercise their right to vote and the school may grant a holiday before Election Day to allow them to travel to their polling locations. Continuous assessment for the semester starts on March 20, 2023, and is expected to end on March 25, 2023.
Sports enthusiasts can anticipate events planned by the Director of Sports of the Great Ife Student Union, such as the scrabble showdown between Team OAU and Team UI from February 17th-18th, 2023. Other sports events include the OAU Sports Festival, OAU Sport Award, Inter-Hall competition, Referee Training, Cricket Exhibition, and Hockey Exhibition.
The Faculty/Student Colloquium is scheduled to be held from February 20 to February 24, 2023, and academic lectures will be rounded off by April 28. The crowning of the “Most Beautiful Girl in OAU” is also an event to watch out for.
Lecture-free week, where students are expected to fully prepare for exams, will begin on May 2, 2023, and end on May 6, 2023. The exams for the semester are scheduled to start on May 8, 2023, and run through May 27. Vacation begins on June 26.
Valentine’s day, a day dedicated to expressing gratitude, affection, and love, is also something to look forward to on February 14th. Wishing all Great Ife students a smooth journey in the new semester, and reminding them to stay motivated and never give up. Happy Resumption in a few days’ time!
